Antique art shops are gathered, for most of them, in a few neigbourhoods within the city center : Le Carré Rive Gauche ( Left shore square), Saint-Paul Village or the Swiss village in the 15th arrondissement. Most of them are ancient neighbourhoods whose architecture and spirit go on well with the antiques shown and sold.
The Flea Markets constitute another attractive place thanks to their extremely wide range of products. Thus most antiques and art dealers from the provinces gather their products at these markets. These places are wandering ones and it is only by chance, at random that you may find what you had been looking for, sometimes without even knowing it.
If you prefer muffled atmospheres, the Drouot auction salesroom will fit you perfectly. Since the XVIth century, this Hôtel des Ventes has renewed the way public sales happen and has become one of the leading Auction Salesroom in the world. Anyone can attend, sometimes to buy real masterpieces of painting or furniture. Sotheby’s and Christie’s joined in recently and either for purchasing or just for the spirit, these places deserve definitely a look:
