French Post Museum

The museum is housed in a historic building, the Hôtel des Postes, which was built in the late 19th century. This building was the main post office in Paris until 1973, when it was replaced by the Vaugirard postal sorting center.

The museum features a wide variety of objects related to the history of the postal service :

Visitors can see the oldest French postage stamp, the “Cérès“, which dates back to 1849.

In 2013, the museum was renovated and modernized to provide visitors with a more immersive and interactive experience. It is now equipped with innovative technologies such as touch screens, video projections, sound animations, and interactive games.

Today, the French Post Museum continues to be a place of discovery and promotion of the history and culture of the postal service in France, while also turning towards contemporary communication and digitization issues.
