The theme of this intimate hotel is the work of former next-door neighbor Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, supplier of military aid to American revolutionaries and author of The Marriage of Figaro. First-edition copies of his books adorn the public spaces, and the salons faithfully reflect the taste of 18th-century French nobility, right down to the wallpaper and upholstery. Rooms have Nordic-style wooden tables and chairs, hand-painted bathroom tiles, and gilded mirrors. Street-side rooms on the second through fifth floors are the largest, while smaller sixth-floor garrets under the mansard roof have beguiling views across Rive Droite rooftops. Improvements in 2004 included the addition of flat-screen TVs with Internet access and new carpets and fabrics throughout. www.carondebeaumarchais.com. 19 rooms. Dining room, in-room safes, minibars, cable TV with movies, in-room data ports, laundry service, Internet. AE, DC, MC, V. Métro: Hôtel de Ville.
